Open to the Public. For anyone interested in learning more about DaVinci Coders (http://davincicoders.com/), here's how:
This week's speaker will be Ben Golden, Software Developer at SendGrid. The topic will be "Sending Email with Rails, Grids, and Other Straight Lines."
So, you want to add email to your app, right? The trick is, you don't have the time to invest in doing it right; setting up servers, building trust with recipient ISPs, tracking the performance of your email. Lucky for you, SendGrid did all this already, and is happy to save you the time in exchange for a monthly subscription. This talk will go over the basics of adding SendGrid to a Rails App. I'll cover the quick and dirty way to get SendGrid into your code, as well as a more scalable clean approach. Once we've got the basics down, I'll go into more detail about what SendGrid can offer your app, and why it will save you a lot of time and money.
Ben Golden is a Software Engineer at SendGrid writing mostly Ruby, with a sprinkle of php. Before joining the SendGrid team in 2011, Ben attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, studying Software Engineering. He also spent his college years working for the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, where he built systems to store and categorize research data and maintained super computing clusters. Ben is an active member of the startup community in Boulder and Denver, is an avid home brewer, and hopes to one day launch his own startup that combines technology and brewing.
