Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, me especially, being somewhat new to the world of dachshunds. With Westies, there is ONE color so a discussion of color patterns never comes into the conversation, LOL! I, too, applaud the members of Dachshund Anonymous! They have stepped up to help our rescue group save the breed they love and have been so nice and professional to work with. It is so fun to get to know a whole new group of people...we all love dogs
and can work together towards a common goal, saving lives!
As far as puppy mill dogs go, I would prefer to work with a former mill dog over an owner surrender dog any day. With the mill dog you are starting with a blank slate and there may be some behavior issues that arise with time but nothing like with a dog that some stupid human has screwed up. Mill dogs tend to all get along with one another and we do not usually see any aggression, mainly fear and lack of socialization. With time, patience, and a touch of guidance those issues will resolve in a loving environment.
Thanks to you all for your trust and for being there in our time of need!
