I know I've been quiet lately, and I have to admit, I've been up to something! When the meet-up website had their glitch, I started thinking that maybe we should have a back-up plan just in case it happens again. A way that I can let everyone know what's going on if our email system isn't working for some reason. (Well, that, and a few friends that shall remain nameless, have been telling me I should do it for quite a while now!) So I got busy and Dachshunds Anonymous now has a FACEBOOK page!!!
The Meet-up site will remain our home base as usual. All meet-ups will be posted on the Meet-up website, all important announcements will be sent through the Meet-up email system, photos from the meet-ups will still be posted on the website, and all members still have to apply through the Meet-up website to join the Dachshunds Anonymous Meet-up Group. I will still send out emails with the different dog events in town, and still share current rescue dogs.
***And most importantly, I still encourage you to feel free to share anything with the group, or ask any question, esp if it's health related, that you need help with. Nothing will change in that respect.
However, having a fb page will allow us to share more fun pictures, events, stories, etc without sending out large group emails. I think some people would like to share more, but don't want to "bother" everyone. Facebook will allow people to share as they please, and other people to join in as they want, or don't want.
It will allow us to communicate if the Meet-up website ever goes down again. So if for some reason the website isn't working, check the facebook page and I should have a message there. If not, ask through fb and I will find out! I will also try to post all meet-ups and events on the fb page so they will be in both places.
Another advantage, we can reach a wider audience with our love of dachshunds, and help educate the public on dachshunds, dog rescue, puppy mill awareness, etc. We can share our fosters to a broader audience on facebook, and have them share our fosters with their friends and families....we'll reach more people much easier.
I'm hoping it's a win-win situation.
So, if you're on facebook, type in Dachshunds Anonymous, or go to: https://www.facebook.com/DachshundsAnonymousOmaha
Make sure to "like" the page so you get announcements and updates! Feel free to share a pic or story!
And just a big thank you to all of you for all of your support over the years! This group has become a big part of my life. I truly enjoy what I do, and feel like I am a better person for knowing you all and your adorable little long dogs!
Dusty, Daisy and Georgie send out wiener kisses! (Watch out for Dusty, though...he's a little bit French if you know what I mean!)
Have a good one!
PS Thank you to Elvis' Dad, Mark (pictured here with Daisy) for being the Dachshunds Anonymous fb page very first like! :)
