Air Salvage of Dallas Open House and Fly-in

This is a fun event with lots of cool airplanes coming to the Fly-in and you can go across the road and photograph your way through the airplane wrecking yard.....Lots of cool shots in there. There is a cafe at Lancaster for lunch.

As a first timer, had a great time and enjoyed the group.

Here a few of my pics - 1 week removed from the green box auto settings.

Woke up ill this AM so I couldn't go, but I have a question - can we go to the salvage yard on our own or do you have to have special permission ahead of time?

Only if you are going on the ramp at the airport.

There is a fly-in going on at the same time at Lancaster Airport across the street so I will carry a NIkon[masked]mm and a[masked]mm with a 2X Teleconverter for shooting flying aircraft. Just for fun you could carry a wide like a 14-24mm but not necessary.

Quick question for all - First timer here, and wondering the best lens selection(s) to capture Saturday.

Recreational shooter with a Canon T1i...Thinking 50mm prime, 10-22 for wide, and the 18 - 270 for distance?

Overkill, or not the right lenses?? Others would be 85mm and / or 17 - 50??
