I've worked as a professional for about 30 years shooting for most of the major magazines and ad agencies. Up until last year, I was the Photography Editor at Texas Highways Magazine and left the magazine to open a photogrpahy gallery in Austin and start a workshop company called Texas Photo Workshops. Both are doing well. I started the Gathering of Photographers in Austin last year and it has been a huge hit. Many come from Dallas and Houston for the meetings and have convinced me to start a gathering in Dallas. So, here we go...this group is designed to promote and strengthen both the professional & amateur photographic community in Dallas. My goal is to see mentoring of those seeking to become a professional in our profession. We meet at 6:01 the second Tuesday of each Quarter first for a fantastic meal together. Then we'll each show a few images of our current projects in what we call "Two Minute Shows". Critiques are offered by the Pro's in house if asked for. Afterwards, many will mingle getting to know each other. All are welcome! Oh one last thing, Each Quarter we will open up submissions for a group show from the talent in Dallas to hang at one of the galleries in the DFW area. The best of show will win a cool prize as well.
OK, don't eat dinner before you come, we will have a great meal for you. Also, be sure to bring about 15 images on a thumb drive ready for projection. We will have dinner first starting at 6:01. After everyone has burped, around 7, we will begin running through 2 minute shows of everyones work. If you would like a critique of your work from the working Pro's in the room, just ask. Read more
