Monthly Meeting - "Ancillary Justice" by Ann Leckie

"Ancillary Justice" by Ann Leckie

Our monthly meeting to review the current book. As usual please bring one part of the book you really enjoyed or didn't for discussion.

Length - 416 pages

On a remote, icy planet, the soldier known as Breq is drawing closer to completing her quest.

Breq is both more than she seems and less than she was. Years ago, she was the Justice of Toren--a colossal starship with an artificial intelligence linking thousands of corpse soldiers in the service of the Radch, the empire that conquered the galaxy.

An act of treachery has ripped it all away, leaving her with only one fragile human body. And only one purpose--to revenge herself on Anaander Mianaai, many-bodied, near-immortal Lord of the Radch.

From debut author Ann Leckie, Ancillary Justice is a stunning space opera that asks what it means to be human in a universe guided by artificial intelligence.

Justice, propriety and benefit are the three Radch precepts I was trying to remember. The harbor master I was trying to remember was Sky-yacht Hour (bad spelling but the right sounds)..

It was a great first visit to the SF group. And I liked sitting round the stump instead of a table.
Again, let me invite you all to the WordSpace reading and signing for Darin Bradley's new novel Chimpanzee, Oct 8 at The Wild Detectives. Info is on the WordSpace meetup page.

Great. Good size group, good conversation, not dominated by any one or two people, interesting viewpoints.

Don't see any open tables near the fish tank and rocks. There is a large bench on the west side of the building near a large window. We should meet there.

Just moved the September meeting ahead one week. Even though it is now in October, it is still for the September book, Ancillary Justice. The regular October meeting will still take place on the last Wednesday in October.

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
