Guidelines to Help the Group to Run Smoothly
Which foods to eat?
"Vegetarian" means NO ANIMALS (muscle, liver, tripe, shell fish, etc.), so only fruit, vegetable, honey, gelatin, and ovo-lacto food selections are "vegetarian".
"Vegan" means NO ANIMALS (muscle, liver, tripe, shell fish, eggs, etc.) and NO ANIMAL PRODUCTS (dairy, honey, gelatin, etc.), so only fruit and vegetable food selections are "vegan".
Who may attend?
Anyone may attend; you only need to eat vegetarian or vegan when you are dining with us. So, your carnivorous boyfriend, girlfriend, spouse, etc. may attend, they just have to order vegetarian or vegan when they do!
Children may attend, if they can be well-behaved in a restaurant. It is totally the responsibility of the parents to care for the kids. Yes, the children must eat vegetarian or vegan when they attend. (ATTENTION: Please consult your doctor BEFORE raising your children on a vegetarian or vegan diet.)
Diversity of our diners
This group is for people who want to eat a vegetarian or vegan meal in the company of other people. Our members are vegetarian or vegan for various reason and motivations. Some of the reasons and motivations include; religious practices, ethical treatment of animals, health-related issues. Our dinner conversations cover any and every topic under the sun. The ground rules are pretty basic; agree to disagree, engage in civil debate, seek common ground, show mutual respect, and of course have fun and enjoy yourself and the company at the table.
Please keep your RSVP up-to-date.
If you RSVP "Yes", then please show up - even if you're going to come late! If you can't make it at all, then please change your RSVP to "No".
While our membership is completely free-of-charge, we may occasionally ask for a donation at some of our events. It's totally optional, and you don't have to give in order to participate. We have relatively small expenses (website fees, name tags, signs, etc.), and we feel that it's fair to spread out the costs by asking members for a little contribution. Hopefully, some day, we will have sponsors who will cover these expenses. Please contact us if you know any organization that might be interested in becoming one of our sponsors.
Grounds for removal from the group
If you join to advertise, to network, to market, etc., then you will be asked to stop or to leave the group.
If you don't visit the site at least every 3 months, Meetup.com considers you to be inactive and boots you off.
