Exploring Predictive Modeling with SAS Enterprise Miner

The first meetup is scheduled for January 9, 2014. The featured speaker for the evening will be Kattamuri Sarma, who will demo and discuss the use of SAS Enterprise Miner for model development.

Kattamuri holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He had a long, well-established career as an economist building econometric models for the US and European economies and forecasting key economic indicators at IBM, and subsequently worked in the financial services industry for Citigroup, J.P. Morgan Chase, and other firms, developing predictive models and performing analytics across various businesses. His revised version of Predictive Modeling with SAS Enterprise Miner was recently published by SAS, and he is now at work on an econometrics book.

I suggest that we can plan something around how the scope of analytics has expanded beyond and how the big data space has shaped in the last few years and the road ahead

Thanks to one and all for turning out last night. The next meetup will be in late for February or early March. Please let me know if there are topic areas that would be of particular interest. Right now I am considering inviting a statistics consultant and data scientist from New York. Another idea would be for someone within GE to present on financial modeling with R, Matlab, or SAS. Barry Manis has also offered to present on Qlikview. If there are other ideas you'd have I'm more than open to suggestions. I look forward to seeing everyone at the next Meetup!

Lee, is it possible to make it a webex meeting for those who can't make it to the site?

Please note that Thursday's meeting will be in the 7th floor training rooms at 901 Main Avenue, Norwalk, in the Merritt 7 Complex. The front desk in 901 has a list of all those who've signed up (and have provided a last name!). Once you've checked in you pass through the turnstiles and take the lift to the 7th floor. Unfortunately, 901 Main Avenue is NOT on GPS. If you're coming from the Merritt this is the first building after the petrol station, and the first of the Merritt 7 Complex; you'll drive up a long ramp and through the cantilevered part of the building to guest parking. I can be reached at[masked] (office is (203)[masked]) if you have questions or get lost.

I look forward to seeing everyone Thursday evening!

This is a very interesting topic. Can there be a video broadcast for people like me who will be connecting remotely...
Also, any slides which can be shared....
