streamdrill and H2O

  • Apr 22, 2013 · 6:30 PM

We are excited to have two speakers joining us on the evening of the 22nd.  The first is Mikio Braun, who is visiting San Francisco from Germany.  He will be talking about mining data streams using streamdrill.  The second speaker is SriSatish Ambati, founder of 0xdata, which makes H2O, an opensource prediction and math engine for big data.  He will be giving a talk on scaling GLM, Random Forest, and other popular algorithms to use on big data such as the AllState Kaggle dataset. Both talks should be very interesting!

6:30 - 7:00pm Social (food + beer served)

@SriSatish: would it be possible to provide code samples (or a link) that illustrate the use of D3 to render the JSON-based data in a web page?

Thanks for inspiring presentations with concrete examples! Would be great to know what you think about my recent PandoDaily article "Your data is your interface" http://pandodaily.com/2013/04/17/your-data-is-your-interface/ Looking forward to hearing your thoughts, thanks!

Herbert, thanks for a thoughtful comment. The ecosystem changes step by step - tech, culture and business combined define the meaning and next steps for sharing/privacy/security etc. This develpment is driven by successful use cases that also turn into new business opportunities/models (as seen in the game industry).

Sorry for bailing out at the last moment. Got pulled into some issues at work! Won't be able to make it, as I work in Palo Alto. Hope somebody would get the spot.

We're experimenting with rsvp settings...always a challenge to find the right balance. Ask your guest register for the meetup :)
