Introduction to d3

Details
We are excited to have Oswald Campesato (http://www.linkedin.com/pub/oswald-campesato/0/196/5b8), author of HTML5 Canvas and CSS3 Graphics Primer (http://www.amazon.com/HTML5-Canvas-CSS3-Graphics-Primer/dp/1936420341), coming to give an introductory session on d3.
Abstract
This introductory session discusses the open source JavaScript library D3, whose emphasis on web standards embraces the capabilities of modern browsers, combining powerful visualization components and a data-driven approach to DOM manipulation. Since D3 leverages HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML5 Canvas, and also provides a layer of abstraction over SVG, you can create a remarkable range of data visualizations.
This beginner's session is primarily a code-oriented presentation that focuses on some D3 'fundamentals', so be prepared to delve into D3 code samples.
If time permits, we'll look at some code samples from a D3 open source project, and also learn how to deploy D3-based mobile apps to Android devices (including Google Glass) This session concludes with a book raffle of one of my books that was published in 2013.
