Data Science in Practice

Enough of the theory, lets get practical. Data Science Johannesburg is kicking off again with a practical and hands-on approach to data analytics. Over the next two or three sessions all members will have their chance to tackle a shared problem set and be officially crowned Data Scientist of the Year.

Here's the agenda:

Session 1: Discuss the common dataset and agree on the questions we would like to answer

In your own time: Tackle the questions using any tool or methodology (whether its a dashboard, financial model, or statistical model)

Session 2+: Present your solution to everyone and compete for the coveted prize of Data Scientist of the Year in the first annual Data Science Johannesburg Awards Evening.

Our esteemed panel of models (of the runway variety rather than the statistical) will present the awards.

Whether you're new to the field data science and are looking to learn new things and meet new people, or an expert that wants the chance to prove himself the best, we hope that you will join us.
