So What is Data Science? Why do we need Data Science? And What does a Data Scientist do?
In this meetup we will discuss the tools, methods and technologies used by many startups to analyse large scale data (big data) and extract knowledge from it.
We'll have data scientists talking about topics like: big data analytics, Pig, data mining, machine learning, RecSys, Mahout, scalable data analytics, predictive analytics, Cascalog, heuristics, statistical computing, R language, Clojure, Incanter, big data visualisation, mass text mining, NLP, large scale analytical paradigms, data science opportunities & challenges, data science learning & training...
We'll avoid boring, theoretical, or hard-core presentations with an aim to have interesting, amusing, practical talks showcasing data science applications and data scientists work
And we will have free beer and pizza too :-)
Just a quick note to clarify that this meetup is not about data infrastructure, database management, database administration, technical data integration, or 'traditional' business intelligence.
