I say: "That pint of Guiness that you just ordered is owned by Diageo, the world's biggest alcholic beverage company. You fit their target market perfectly: middle-aged, male, senior position in your company. You've come into this bar at 8pm - that's a typical hour for an after-work drink for your demographic. Worked late have you? They know that's your likely situation right now too. And they know you're after a pint or two to end the day. How do they know all this? Big data analytics!"
I love what data can do and the way that the collection, organisation and analysis of data is changing, and will continue to change, the world in ways we are only just getting a handle on
