2nd Annual Big Data Breakfast

For the second year, we will be celebrating Big Data Week with a discussion of big data over bagels and coffee. Please come join us to hear about NoSQL technologies from a true expert and practitioner. We are happy to be hosted by TeraData in their new gorgeous location.

7:30 AM -- Networking & Breakfast

8:00 AM -- Greetings

8:05 AM -- NoSQL Technologies - Aaron Cordova

Talk

Aaron will present an overview of NoSQL technologies, including Apache Accumulo, and compare and contrast with each other as well as more traditional databases. Talk will relate technologies to high level mission and business outcomes, and diving into technical details is an option.

Speaker

Aaron Cordova has worked in the field of scalable distributed architectures for the last 10 years. At the NSA Aaron founded the Apache Accumulo project and has helped organizations in various industries build scalable data analysis capabilities as a consultant, and now as CTO and co-founder of Koverse Inc. Aaron has expertise in traditional databases, NoSQL databases, and is constantly learning new frameworks for scalable data processing as the ecosystem grows.

Company

Koverse separates signal from noise for data-driven organizations.  We deliver meaningful insights critical for organizations to increase effectiveness in every aspect of business.  The Koverse platform consolidates the elements required for deriving actionable insights from data – Collect, Analyze, Act – in a secure, scalable multi-tenant environment built on established technologies such as Hadoop.

Aaron's balanced summary of the different types of databases was good, and hopefully we'll get his graph of the relationships between the various database concepts and implementations. I know it wasn't complete and authoritative, but it would be useful for introducing colleagues to the subject.
