Join your fellow data visualizers for David Aja’s presentation of the EFS Dashboard – a dash boarding and analytics tool he coded and designed himself in Shiny. David designed EFS to help simplify the process of analyzing the results of GAO’s annual employee feedback survey. David says that goal of EFS is t to reduce the amount of labor required to get to survey graphs- through building a cloud cloud-based way to collect and analyze survey results.

RStudio developed Shiny as a web application framework for R, designed to turn your analyses into interactive web applications. No HTML, CSS, or JavaScript knowledge required.

E. David Aja is a Data Analyst at the U.S. Government Accountability Office, an organization that conducts oversight of federal agencies for Congress. He has worked on a wide assortment of projects there, such as analyses of federal contracting data and assessments of weapons system acquisition at DoD. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Cornell University, and Master’s degrees in Public Administration and Public Policy from Syracuse University and the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin.

David says he got into data visualization with R and Shiny because “I was tired of fighting with Stata and losing.” His favorite beer is Coney Island Mermaid Pilsner.
