Details
Greetings! We're very excited to have Trina Chiasson present to our group. She is the organizer of the highly active and successful Visualisation Montréal meetup group. She also recently completed a collaborative open source e-book about data and design. Come join us as Trina discusses this project and shares her experience.

About the talk
Trina Chiasson will talk about the process of writing a collaborative, global, open source book about the intersection of data and design.
This year, more than 50 people in 14 countries worked together to write a free, 300-page e-book that explains important data and visualization concepts in friendly language. Data + Design: A simple introduction to preparing and visualizing information is an open source e-book that describes data collection, preparation, storytelling and visualization.
Trina Chiasson is the co-founder and CEO of Infoactive, a web app that helps people create interactive infographics and data visualizations. She was a 2013-2014 Fellow at the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute, where she organized and launched Data + Design, an open source e-book with more than 50 contributors. Trina also organizes the Visualisation Montréal meetup group and spends much of her time digging into geeky projects that blend data, design, UX, and code.

About the event
As usual, we'll start refreshments at 6:30pm with time to network, catch up and meet new people with interests in data visualization. The formal presentations will begin around 7:00pm and there will be time for Q&A afterwards. So please join us for these excellent presentations, the best DataViz networking in New York, and some light refreshments.
Please note: only those with confirmed RSVP's will be able to attend, because of security requirements at the space that generously hosts & sponsors us. Reservations will close at 5:00pm the day of the event. If you aren't able to get a slot by then, we apologize, but you won't be able to enter the building. For this reason, we've expanded the number of RSVP's we accept, to account for no-shows and to make sure we fill as many of our seats as possible. But, please cancel as early as possible to make room for other attendees. Also please be sure to provide your full name for front desk security. Thanks for understanding, and see you there!
