Dayton Recovery International Meetup

This is a weekly mental health self help support group. It is in the traditional Recovery International format. We read from one of Dr. Abraham Low's books, give examples of using Recovery International tools to handle the stresses of everyday life. We pass around a basket for donations to our non-profit group but there is no obligation to buy any books or donate.

I cannot attend morning meetings during the week as I work a full time job. Does your group really know cognitive behavioral strategies? I am trying to find a therapist who specializes in CBT...do any of you know of someone? Thanks.

The group demonstrates tools you can use to change your thoughts and your behavior so the method is essentially CBT. The leaders are not mental health professionals but rather peers who have learned the RI method in their own lives and want to help others do the same. There is a Tuesday night meeting at 7:30 at St Charles school in Kettering and a Sat mtg in Fairborn at 10 am. For a complete list of meetings go to recoveryinternational.org. I am sorry I can't help out with therapist info.
