Friday Shooters: Shields-Ethridge Heritage Farm
Details
Shields-Ethridge Heritage Farm is a 200-year-old farmstead near Jefferson, GA. The farm has been in the same family since 1798 and is now an outdoor agricultural museum and a Georgia Heritage Site. Clustered near the old homestead are many log and hand-hewn buildings nestled among huge oak trees. Antique farm equipment lies scattered around the property. The rustic farm structures, some textured by dry rot or layered with lichen and moss, offer abundant photographic opportunities. Besides the exterior of these structures, we will be able to take photos inside the grist mill and the old cotton gin which still contain the worn belts and pulleys and machinery from their bygone working days.
After the shoot, we can drive into Jefferson, GA (about 3 miles away) for lunch at a local restaurant.
Although there is no charge to visit the farm, donations are appreciated. Please consider a contribution to help maintain and preserve this historic settlement. Suggested donation is $10, but any amount will be gladly accepted.
Note: There are no public restrooms available at the farm.
Jefferson, GA is about one hour northeast of Atlanta on Interstate 85. If you think you'd like to carpool, please indicate it in the comments section of the event and hopefully someone will be willing to pick you up.
