Rural Georgia PhotoShoot Adventure
Details
Ever dream about what must have gone on in the small southern towns that made up most of Georgia back in the early 1900's. Now you're going to get to see some of the artifacts in a few small towns and maybe you can make your dream progress just a bit. We'll meet in Crawfordville around 8:30 and should be in Social Circle for lunch by 12:30 or 12:45 PM.
We will drive to Crawfordville (94 miles east of Atlanta, population around 572). Crawfordville is the county seat of Taliaferro County. The movies "Sweet Home Alabama", "Coward of the County" and "Get Low" were filmed in Crawfordville.
Greensboro, Georgia (76 miles east of Atlanta, population around 3,238) is our next stop. Greensboro is the county seat of Greene County. Let's see if we can locate the Iron Horse. Hint: It is located in a cornfield along Georgia Highway 15 about 11 miles north of the town limits of Greensboro.
Next on our itinerary is Buckhead, Georgia (about 65 miles east of Atlanta, population around 223) in Morgan County. Very little is published about Buckhead because everyone thinks that Buckhead is a suburb just north of Downtown Atlanta in Fulton County. You won't be disappointed in what you find in the real town of Buckhead.
Next stop on our trip is Rutledge, Georgia (50 miles east of Atlanta, population about 707) in Morgan County.. The site of the Sunflower Farm (Watch for a Meetup on July 6). This town will not disappoint when it comes to historic artifacts and buildings.
We've save the best for last: We will complete our day in Social Circle, Georgia (44 miles east of Atlanta, population about 4,500) located partly in Walton County and partly in Newton County. Social Circle is the home of the Blue Willow Inn, famous for their southern buffet with lip-smackin' down home cookin'. We will have lunch there, shoot whatever pleases us after lunch, and then return to the big city to unwind.
