Puppeteers often control puppets in film through animatronic technology so this class will introduce pulley mechanisms, electronic circuitry, and computer coding in the process of building and performing a dove pantin.
Traditionally white doves are symbols of peace. Participants will draw or cut out pictures that represent their concept of peace and attach them to the dove’s claws so that in “performance,” the dove puppet will fly to bring peace to a person or region that could use it.
All participants (or their guardians) must sign a release form granting permission for their puppets, voices, and likenesses to appear in a peace video that will be available for viewing on social media within two weeks after the workshop.
Minimum age is 5. Children 7 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
$5 suggested donation for the maker space. Each participant must purchase a $10 puppet kit at the event.
