Should we stay or should we go?

We've talked about operations in Afghanistan and Pakistan before, but the mission will certainly take on a new imperative with the death of Osama Bin-Laden.  While the rhetoric is fresh and policy is yet-to-be-made, let's revisit this topic and see what our options are, and discuss which you would endorse and which you would oppose.

At the same time, we'll also spend a little time on the question of those pesky photos.  Do we distribute them widely?  Show them to a select few?  Lock them away forever?  Of course, this may be moot by the time we meet, but what the heck.  We'll do it anyway!

We're back at Coco's in Manhattan Beach, which worked so well for us last time.  Let's enjoy a tasty breakfast and some invigorating discussion about the future of U.S. and Western operations in the Af-Pak region now that the evil, bearded monster is gone... or is he?

See you there!

We all agreed that there is no clear path out of Afghanistan, but remaining indefinitely was impossible. At the end, we were deep into the many dilemmas of the Middle East in its current state. Great group!

I thoroughly enjoyed the discussion. I value the open atmosphere, in terms of how all points of view are listened to and respected. So used to people being shouted down when there are political discussions.

Interesting topic. Many sides to take into consideration. No definite answer reached
