New Meetup: Picking winners?

Announcing a new Meetup for Deep Thinkers!

What: Picking winners?

When: Saturday, June 19,[masked]:00 PM

Philippe The Original
1001 N. Alameda Street
Los Angeles, CA 90012

Finally, another Deep Thinkers Meetup! Our topic this go-around is:
Should the government be in the business (or habit) of picking winners? In other words, should our elected representatives use the tools at their disposal - taxes, credits, incentives, etc. - to alter behavior? Examples include sin taxes on alcohol and tobacco, credits to married people and families, incentives to sports arenas et al., and the list goes on. What role should our government play in commerce and personal lives?

Since we've had a rush of new members from the valley, I'm scheduling this for Phillipe the Original French Dip near Union Station. We've had a couple there previously, and it seemed to work out well, so I hope to attract some members who can't make it to the westside.

This should be a hot topic, so come ready to state your case and hear how others see it.

Hope you can make it!

p.s. - There is no Dodger game scheduled, so traffic shouldn't be too bad.
