Denver Area Piano Group

Join us for an afternoon of Denver Area Piano members performing and sharing music with their fellow pianists. We welcome all ages and skill levels from beginning intermediate to expert pianists whose musical focus is on a variety of styles from jazz to classical. This will be a combination indoor/outdoor event as Janet's piano sits in a room that opens onto a patio with seating under a tent cover. It will be her first time to host! Don't miss out on this opportunity to play for other musicians and meet new friends who share your love for the piano!

Dave Carter will be hosting our June 2024 Piano MeetUp at the Classic Pianos Recital Hall on south Broadway in Denver. The hall can accommodate more members and guests than our regular monthly events hosted by members in their homes.

This private performance space located on the ground floor of Classic Pianos has a large capacity of up to 50, though still intimate enough for our smaller groups of 20 to 25. It also offers two grand pianos if we request it. A second grand can be brought in for two piano works and concertos or simply as a choice of which to play for solos.

The hall will open at 1:30PM, but if you come earlier, you can browse the showroom upstairs. Classic Pianos is the principle seller in Denver of new Yamaha, Bosendorfer, Schimmel and Estonia pianos, but sells a wide variety of rebuilt/reconditioned pianos including Steinway and Baldwin.

• What we'll do
Susie Frakes is hosting our July 2024 piano Meetup, this meeting with a twist. She would like us to have time after the performances for a backyard barbecue/potluck. Susie's home is in the Ken Caryl area, southwest of C-470. She has a Young Chang parlor grand for us to play.

• What to bring
Bring a dish to share and bring your choice of meat to grill. Susie will provide 2 grills for the party, plus utensils (cups, plates, forks, knives, spoons, etc).

• Important to know
Parking in the large driveway is fine, or if full, parking on the side of the street - car pooling if possible.

Directions: from S. Wadsworth (S. of SW Plaza) turn right, West onto W. Ken Caryl Ave., go past stop light @ Carr, turn around the median - now heading east to S. Estes Court, which is just past S. Everett St. Turn right, South onto S. Estes Court. Third house on the right (west) side of street.

From C-470 take W. Ken Caryl Exit if coming from the north, go East on W. Ken Caryl Ave. and turn South on S. Estes Ct. If coming from the East side of town on C-470, take the Wadsworth Exit going North turn West on Ken Caryl and follow above directions from Wadsworth.

When heading East on Ken Caryl after turning around the median, the turn into S. Estes Ct. is a right hand turn and my house is also on the right (West) side of the street.

Mimi Dokken has offered to host our August MeetUp at her home in University Hills in southeast Denver. She has a beautiful Boston baby grand, a piano designed by Steinway & Sons. We ask that you be fully vaccinated to assure this event is safe for all attendees. We will have snacks and bottled water. There is plenty of street parking!
