Introduction to Pentaho ETL

Pentaho Data Integration is an open source graphical ETL tool that has been gaining popularity and maturing over the last 5-6 years. It has recently added Big Data features supporting Hadoop as source/targets as well as creating map reduce jobs using the GUI. Kevin will give a live demo of some of the Pentaho basics and compare and contrast it's features against current Informatica features. Talend experts are also welcome to provide some comments/contrasts/discussion on another open source ETL alternative.

Hadoop: What is it? How does it work? What can it do?

Cloudera technical resources will give a ground up explanation of the basics of Hadoop. If you've heard about it, but haven't yet spent time learning about it, then this is a perfect opportunity to get in on the action. For those in the BI space, time will be taken to explain/discuss some of the more recent thoughts on how Hadoop fits in with traditional Data Warehousing etc.
