The Storage Renaissance and Security Analytics

Security event management and analytics solutions service diverse technical requirements across many use cases. The underpinnings of integrated security analytics platforms are in their ability to ingest and index data at high rates while simultaneously allowing for real-time retrieval. The rapid evolution of purpose built and highly performant storage technologies has resulted in a convergence of features that directly satisfy many of the requirements for security information platforms. Elasticsearch in particular offers a unique combination of capabilities that make it a natural choice to satisfy core LogRhythm requirements. This presentation will cover why LogRhythm chose Elasticsearch as its new storage technology to satisfy both current and future security analytics use cases. In addition, some of the ecosystem of complementary technologies used to productize LogRhythm’s Elasticsearch implementation will be discussed.

Phillip Villella, Ph.D., co-founded LogRhythm in March 2003 and currently serves as our Chief Scientist. Dr. Villella has held a variety of senior engineering leadership positions within LogRhythm since our inception. Prior to co-founding LogRhythm, Dr. Villella held research positions at the University of New Mexico Surface Physics Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratory, the Los Alamos National Laboratory and the University of Colorado. Dr. Villella holds a B.S. in Physics from the University of New Mexico and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Colorado.

Elasticsearch 2.0 release

Elasticsearch 2.0 is out! I'm going to talk about the changes and new
features that come with it including pipeline aggs, simplified query
DSL, better compression, hardened security and durability, performance,
and many more.

Lee Hinman is a developer at Elastic working on Elasticsearch and he is currently residing in the Denver area.
