Kaiwa Club

From: Woodson T.

There is another Japanese language group called Kaiwa Club, which is sponsored by the Japan America Society of Colorado. Aki Murata and I are both members of Kaiwa Club. The Kaiwa Club coordinator is Nami Larson, who is a native of Nagoya, Japan, and works at the Japanese consulate here in Denver. We meet every Wednesday night from 6:30 to 8:00, at Buzz Cafe, on the northwest corner of 6th and Marion. Marion is one block east of Downing. On the first Wednesday of each month, we have Pair Talk. Nami assigns each of us to one person for a one on one Japanese conversation. Every twenty minutes, she assigns us to new partners.
The second Wednesday is a presentation in Japanese about any subject which interests the presenter. The third week is a Japanese grammar lesson. The fourth week is a Japanese vocabulary lesson. If a month has five Wednesdays, we don't have a formal meeting on the fifth Wednesday, but quite often there is a Kaiwa Club party or dinner on that day. Many of us go out to eat between 8:00 and 10:00 PM, after Kaiwa Club, but that is optional. All of you are invited to come to Kaiwa Club if you are free on Wednesday nights.

Your coordinator,

Woodson Taylor.
