"Pelle said his views differ from the county
sheriffs' group, which represents the 62 elected sheriffs in the state.
The association has asked legislators to table all gun-control bills to
avoid rash decision-making following the tragic shootings in Aurora and
Pelle said he understands that stance, especially in rural counties.
"They're facing some different issues than most of us on the Front Range," Pelle said."
Apparently, Sheriff Pelle doesn't understand that the Bill of Rights applies in Boulder County as well. The County Sheriffs of Colorado specifically stated that they would oppose gun grabber laws and would not waiver in the defense of the Constitution. It is regrettable that he chose to please his Democrat Party bosses over upholding his oath of office. The people of this county deserve better. The following statement is from a sheriff who understands his constitutional duty.
"The county sheriff is the last line of defense when it comes to upholding and defending the Constitution. The sheriff’s duties and obligations go far beyond writing tickets, arresting criminals and operating jails.
We also have an obligation to protect the Constitutional rights of the citizens in our counties. This includes the right to free speech, the right to assemble and the right to bear arms.
Remember the oath. We took an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution, from enemies foreign AND domestic.
In the history of our world, it is government tyranny that has violated the freedoms granted to us by our Creator more than any other. And it is the duty of the
sheriff to protect their counties from those that would take away our freedoms, both foreign AND domestic – whether it is a terrorist from Yemen or a bureaucrat from Washington, DC." Sheriff Richard Mack, Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association. http://cspoa.org/
Well, many of us here in The People's Republic were wondering where our sheriff stood on this issue. Now we know - much to our dismay.
