Details

Dear Members,

The topic has changed for our next meetup. I am excited to announce that Dave Whalen will be our guest speaker and will present an 'Introduction to Selenium WebDriver'. Here is information regarding his presentation.

Title: Introduction to Selenium Web Driver

Abstract:

Automated functional testing skills are in high demand. While there a number of automated test tools available, most carry a pretty hefty price tag. But that doesn’t have to be the case. One of the more powerful and flexible automated tests tools available doesn’t cost a dime – Selenium Web Driver.

As an open-source tool, Web Driver is freely available. Of course nothing is really free. The cost – you’re going to have to know or learn some basic coding. I assure you, nothing difficult. I you’re like the average tester, the thought of doing any coding scares the $%^& out of you. It did me. Let’s take baby steps. First, we need to make Web Driver our friend. So let’s take the journey together. The heavy lifting has already been done for you.

Presentation Outline:

1-What is Selenium WebDriver

2-Tools you need - Java, Eclipse, TestNG, WebDriver Jar files

3-Test Scenario - launch a browser, navigate to a URL, basic assertions, accessing/manipulating web elements, submitting the page

Meetup specifics
The next meetup will be again in the Denver Post building at MediaNews Group, interactive 101 West Colfax Ave Suite 900 Denver CO 80202. When you walk into the Denver Post building, you must enter in the main lobby and tell security that you are attending the meetup at MediaNews Group, interactive office on the 9th floor. Please make sure you RSVP on the meetup.com site so I can give your name to security so they know you are coming up, they would check your name and escort you to the elevator. I will be giving Security a list of names based on the RSVP's I find on our meetup.com site.

Please include your full name in your meetup bio as well. This will ensure you pass through Denver Post security without any hassles. Otherwise you may have to call my cell if you are detained for some reason downstairs.

Once you get out of the elevator head south, look for the break area and walk straight into MediaNews Group office. I will post signs along to way as well. You will want to find the Executive conference room. Once you enter the MediaNews group office walk up to the pictures in front of you and then head left and walk past the cubicles. The Executive conference room is just to the left of the cubicles but not past the double glass doors, there will be a 'Selenium Meetup' sign. If you get lost of have problems with security, call my cell at 720 251-9175.

We are planning on having meetups the 1st Tuesday of each month. Next one is Tuesday, December 3rd. Looking forward to seeing you all and hearing Dave's presentation. Please spread the word about this meetup, let anyone who you think may be interested know.
