Riding and Running (canceled until further notice pending warmer weather)

Details

NOTE THE TIME.

We meet at 615pm, roll at 630.

When you RSVP, please indicate whether you will "run/ride" or "ride only".

For those two or three who feel the urge to ALWAYS reply that you're not coming.....well, there's 2500 riders on this board. After hosting 60+ events that you haven't shown up at, I assume you're not coming. You don't need to notify me that you're not coming yet again. Just don't reply...really...you can do it....just back....away.........slowly....don't reply....we'll live....really....

Winter rides--weather pending. If it's above 32, we'll ride. If not, we won't. If there's snow on the ground, we're cancelled. If the trails are clear-no ice-we'll ride. Use your sidewalk as your gauge.

Lights are required, but strangely - not needed! The trail is so well-lit that your lights are basically to let oncoming bikers see that you're there.

Ok, this series is different than the Cherry Creek Dam rides. We leave from the same place, but we ride down to Wash Park and REI. The ride from 4 Mile to REI is only 6.5 miles each way. To gain some miles, we'll duck off Cherry Creek bike path and do some loops around Wash Park. Wash Park is 2.5 miles, approx. So, adding the ride over to Wash Park and back to Cherry Creek bike trail, this becomes a 16.5 mile ride. You'd add 2.5 miles for every lap around Wash Park.

Some of us plan to ride to Wash Park and chain up our bikes, and run a lap. This will take approximately 25 minutes to run the lap, probably less. Those who wish can keep doing laps for that timeframe. At a 15mph average, each mile takes 4 minutes, approx. So, each 2.5 mile lap around Wash Park should take you about 11 minutes. So if you do 3 laps on your bike to our one running, we should time it about right to rejoin and continue on to REI. At REI, we can take a break, then return to 4 Mile.

With this plan, those who ride the laps will get 21 miles in, and those running will get in about 16.5. This should total a 80-90 minute workout.

My number: ....if you don't call, I have no sympathy.
