Conversations at Techshop

Details

Please join us for an informal night of conversations, networking, and a chance to explore TechShop (http://www.techshop.ws/arlington.html)!

Get a guided tour of this fabulous local maker space, and then reconnect and meet fellow DT:DC innovators. If you are new to DT:DC, this is a great way to get to know others in the group. We'll be having conversations around familiar questions like:

• How do I find an employer, applicant, or consultant that 'gets' human-centered design? What does that mean?

• How can I introduce elements of human-centered design into my company's process? What resources exist to support me?

• What programs exist where I can go and learn more about human-centered design?

As always, feel free to send other questions you'd like to see addressed.

TechShop (http://www.techshop.ws/arlington.html) is a vibrant, creative community that provides access to tools, software and space. You can make virtually anything at TechShop. Shop volunteers will be giving guided tours of the space.

And what better backdrop to discuss the community's burning questions around the intersection of human-centered design, industry, employment and education?

We'll be listening carefully and using the feedback we hear to plan future DT:DC events and content, and we'd love for you to be part of the conversation.

WAIVER + CLOSED-TOE SHOES REQUIRED TO ATTEND

PRINT and BRING this waiver to the event with you. (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B55Xql33SDybSEF5djk2ZDFUdThtUWQ4WGE4MmFEQUZWZFJB/view?usp=sharing)

TechShop requires all guests to sign this liability waiver as it is a manufacturing space with cool (and potentially dangerous) tools. Closed-toe shoes also required for safety (aren't you glad it's winter?).

TechShop is a playground for creativity. Part fabrication and prototyping studio, part hackerspace and part learning center, TechShop provides access to over $1 million worth of professional equipment and software. They offer comprehensive instruction and expert staff to ensure members have a safe, meaningful and rewarding experience. Most importantly, at TechShop you can explore the world of making in a collaborative and creative environment.

Evening includes:

• Conversation & Networking

• TechShop Zone Tours

• Light Snacks and Beverages

See you there!
