Principles of Typography

This meetup will be on the subject of Typography. How to understand the components of good type design; choosing a font that is effective in conveying your message, proper kerning, consideration of letter shapes and using the power of negative space, how to vectorize your type designs efficiently, and more. If folks have discussion topics that they would like to have covered for this meetup, please post them on this meetup page.

Bring the following materials with you: glue stick, scissors, whiteout, fine Sharpie marker or other black marker. We will have some hands-on exercises. Prior to the meetup try your hand at kerning, go to http://type.method.ac/ and do the Kerning Game. Make note of your score and share it at the meeting.
