We're happy to announce
TorontoUX Meetup #4: "Building design teams and processes in the world of UX”.
This month's meet-up is hosted at the very cool offices of Playground Inc, and as always we're in store for an audience driven fireside chat , roundtable discussions, Pizza and some cold beverages!
August's theme is about the evolving conversation we've been having surrounding where designers, startups, and agencies stand in the professional development of designers & growing organizations.
UX Designers often come from multi-disciplinary backgrounds, and the field is so broad that we have iA’s, IxD’ers, Graphic Designers, UI Designers, Researchers, front-end developers, and often a mix of these skill-sets joining organizations as ‘UX Designers’.
We’ll explore this topic from the employer and designer perspective:
As employers, It’s never just 1 single designer that covers all your bases at first, or is it? How do you make this work when building your teams? How do you structure growth, and which skill-sets do you hire for first? How does all this impact your companies’ momentum, and how do you adapt?
As designers, what are we looking for in organizations in terms of their size, team experience, type of work, breadth of their design teams, and maturity of process? How do we make the choices for our next steps in our design careers with all of the opportunities available in the industry?
Can you relate?
At August’s Toronto UX Meetup #4, we’ll be talking about these challenges for designers, agencies and startups.
We’d love for agency founders, startup entrepreneurs, product owners, design veterans, and those breaking into the industry to join us so that we can learn from each other, and learn what we’re all looking for in hiring, applying for positions, and building design teams."

• A big thank you: I want to give a big giant shoutout to our organizing team, who make our meet-ups happen and run smoothly month after month: Ricardo, Shigeo, Nancy, Sarah, Sidra, Bryan, Rusul & our guest organizer for the summer from Ottawa, Tyler Copeland.
• The meet-up is still growing! Our community has grown this month by close to a hundred, making us 430+ engaged Startup-ers, Developers, and UX'ers. Congrats!
• How can we ever fit that many people in the same place?! We've always had to cap our meet-ups at roughly 150 people, so... we have a special event announcement coming up to wrap up the UX Year and celebrate together ;) Stay tuned.

tailoredUX (tUX!) is a Toronto based UX Design studio. We started tUX to provide a partnership based approach to services that helps founders grow their companies through product strategy & UX design. That means strategists and designers bridge the gaps between business, design, & product development— and then execute in UX/UI design and front-end development to ship awesome digital products. We primarily work with social impact startups changing the world through innovations in the education, healthcare and energy domains. It's fun stuff.
