Spreenkler Meetup Moves To Wednesday, April 18th

Why? To partner with our friends at Newaukee and their first-ever event, Young Professional Week, which takes place April 16-21 (

The week showcases and celebrates Milwaukee's young professional organizations and topics. The Spreenkler Meetup falls within YP Week's focus on innovation (full schedule).

This will be a great way to introduce more young professionals to our diverse Spreenkler community and expose them to the innovative people, places and companies in Milwaukee!

OUR FEATURED SPEAKER: Carmel Hagen, CMO of Boulder, Colorado based COMMON.

COMMON is a collaborative brand and creative community for accelerating social change. Founded in January of 2011 by Alex Bogusky, John Bielenberg and Rob Schuham, COMMON supports, connects and celebrates those designing a new era of socially-minded enterprise.

COMMON hosts “pitch” events to celebrate and showcase entrepreneurs with world-changing business concepts. They’ve held COMMON Pitch in Boulder, New York, South Africa and have SELECTED MILWAUKEE AS THEIR 4TH PITCH CITY!

The focus of COMMON Pitch Milwaukee is American innovation and is part of Milwaukee Innovation Week (coming in June).

WE NEED YOU! If you have an idea that will reinvent America, go here NOW:

MiKE Intern Social Mixer

In conjunction with YP Week, the Spreenkler Meetup will also host a mixer to help prospective interns connect with companies looking to fill internships. Students in advertising, design, business, and software engineering from area colleges will be able to casually meet decision makers from Milwaukee's most creative and innovative companies.

STUDENTS: If you want to meet people from the biggest, best-known brands, ultra creative agencies and kick ass startups, BE HERE!

EMPLOYERS: It’s never been easier to meet talented students. If you’ve never hired an intern, no worries. We’ll help you with that and connect you to other employers who have. C’mon, this not only helps your company, but is important to the future of our city! So GET HERE!

YPNation Tour 2012 is launching in Milwaukee during YP Week!

And they want to hear from you! YPNation’s mission is to unify and amplify the voice of America’s Young Professionals on the key issues impacting their future. They’ll be hanging out at the Meetup and they’d love to hear what you think are important issues for YPs.

Check for updates and videos as they facilitate a national conversation on the shared challenges, concerns, and matters affecting the YP community.

Spread the word!

See you at the Meetup!

Particularly when there is a large crowd, hearing the speaker is quite difficult. I had a difficult time following the speakers and the Video presentation.

The meeting space is incredible. The layout and design are above par. The organizational skills of the presenters could be a bit more polished. Also it was rather difficult to hear even sitting in a middle seat. I know that the people in the rear couldn't hear at all. Since they couldn't hear they had their own conversations. The chatter of their conversations made the reception in the middle and front worse.

It was overall very insightful and a wonderful source of networking with others in the advertising field for me.

I was disappointed at how poorly this meetup went. I think tonight's audience was a poor representation of the spirit and focus of these meetups. A mixer should not be conducted when you have a guest speaker trying to explain their cause. If I am wrong on that, then the meeting should have been moderated better. I hope this does not taint the image of Milwaukee. For those chatting in the back, show some gratitude and professionalism. It is no surprise Carmel Hagen exited her presentation after fielding a handful of less than insightful questions.

Hi, Adam! I'll be going. Will be in MKE office that whole day though. You can catch a ride if you can leave in the morning. You're welcome to work remotely from my office that day if you want.
