An after-work hike to Mount Minsi will give us a great view of the Delaware Water Gap just before the sun sets. We'll start the hike at 5:30pm, reaching the top of the mountain by 7:00pm (sun set will be at 7:15 on that day). We'll be able to take in the great colors in the sky above us and the valley below us before we head back down the mountain in the dusk. The trip down the mountain will be faster, so we should be wrapped up by 8:00pm or so.

We will follow the Appalachain Trail from the Lake Lenape parking area up to the top of Mount Minsi. This trail is about 1.5 miles and climbs up a steep, rocky grade for 1,060 feet.

Experienced/fit hikers only for this one, please, because we need to move quickly to complete the hike before the woods get too dark. If you're a little worried about hiking back in dusk, just throw a flashlight in your pack :) (I've actually hiked this trail at night, but I don't want to drag anyone else along for that kind of craziness, so we'll keep up a good clip to be back, safe and sound, by nightfall ;) )

To get to the Appalachian Trail's Lake Lenape Parking Area, follow Route 611 into Delaware Water Gap. At the Deerhead Inn, turn onto Mountain Road (there will be signs for the AT and Water Gap Country Club). After only 1/8 mile on Mountain Road, make the first left (there will be a small brown sign for the AT and parking). We'll gather right at the gate to the trailhead. Be sure to RSVP so I know who to expect! :)
