Make a website of the future, today

Come to Dev Workshop Indy's first day-long event. We'll be applying everything we've talked about in the past three months (Bootstrap, LESS, and Greensock) and building a responsive and animated site that will make your friends jealous. No need to have come to any or all of our previous workshops; we'll run over the basics again to make sure you're not lost. The final site will not only look good, but will have wonderful little animations that will be sure to make users smile.

This 6 hour workshop will take you from design file to working application, while touching on many new technologies along the way. The base file is a fairly generic layout, so you will be able to customize the look and feel of your application after completion.

6 hours of pure code is a lot, so we'll feed you some breakfast and lunch to keep you energized along the way.

By the end of this workshop you will have
* A responsive site that looks good on most devices

* LESS css, using all the bells and whistles (nest selectors, variables, caclculations)

* Site layout via Bootstrap (using its built-in grid framework)

* Animated features using TweenLite.js (parallax, build-ins, and hover/touch interactivity)

About LESS
LESS extends CSS with dynamic behavior such as variables, mixins, operations and functions and is available as a javascript, ruby gem, or easy-to-use apps.

About Bootstrap
Bootstrap is a powerful front-end framework created by Twitter for faster and easier web development. It encourages semantic HTML, uses a robust set of CSS classes to command an amazingly sturdy cross browser experience.

About TweenLite
GreenSock's TweenLite library is great for adding animations and interactivity.

Lunch will be provided and we are attempting to get bagels and such for breakfast.

About the Presenter
Travis Faas is a Visiting Lecturer of Media Arts and Science at IUPUI. He primarily teaches introductory application development (and sneaks in some artsy code when he can). You can learn more about what he's working on at any given moment at www.dustytome.net/moot.

Thanks Travis and the whole team for putting on a great event. It's great to see a site get built from the ground up.

Great Job Travis, beside learning all the wonderful techniques, I learned quite a bit on your delivery and presenting skills too :)

Haha, I'm not sure if I'm the right person to be learning presentation skills from!

Having just joined this meetup a few weeks ago, I would never have known it was just starting out. I've been to two really great workshops. This first all-day workshop had useful and interesting material, a well-put-together presentation, and an excellent presenter. The pace, level of depth, and interactivity of the workshop were just right. All those things, combined with a comfortable meeting space, food and drinks, made it a a great day.

I tried to make it, but I've woken up with some sort of damned stomach bug and I feel like crap. I am so ticked off right now.

Aww man. Sorry to hear it. I wish I could say there'll be a video waiting for you when you're feeling better, but it's a little harder with a seven hour workshop haha. I hope you feel better!
