Abstract: From Foursquare to Facebook, location based apps and services are rapidly gaining popularity. Whether it's finding nearby friends or restaurants, location is unavoidable in the mobile development space. This talk will cover the basic location APIs of WP7, including the location hardware and Bing Maps Silverlight control.
Bio: John Zablocki is a Development Manager at HealthcareSource in Woburn, MA. He is the founder of Beantown ALT.NET and former adjunct at Fairfield University in the Dolan School of Business. A question was asked last night about roaming charges when using the GPS overseas. This article on Lifehacker (and everything else I've read) seems to imply that GPS use doesn't incur charges - http://lifehacker.com/5604679/use-your-smartphones-gps-in...![]()
. However, if you do as the article suggests, you'll only be able to pull location data from WiFi or GPS, which is probably OK...
