Microsoft DevBoston Message Board › Mid-Level Application Development Position in Burlington, MA
Mid-Level Application Developer
IntrinsiQ, headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts, is the premier source for US oncology data and analysis. Our mission is to improve the quality and understanding of cancer care. IntrinsiQ’s market-leading software application, IntelliDose®, captures the treatment decisions and details of over 17,000 patients a month, creating an unrivaled database of accurate, detailed and timely information about the medical oncology care process. This database is the foundation of products and services designed to uniquely address the business issues of pharmaceutical product managers, market researchers, and financial analysts.
Because of our reputation for excellence in our data services, IntrinsiQ was recently acquired by ION Solutions under AmerisourceBergen. Our IntelliDose® business remains unaffected, but this is an exciting time for our data services. We have been tasked with acquiring a number of new data feeds, representing a considerable increase in volume and complexity. As part of the Data Operations team you will help implement a sophisticated data pipeline that accommodates many data feeds. This is a high profile project that will increase the company revenue.
We are seeking a mid-level application/web developer to work under the general direction of the senior developer. You’ll be involved in determining requirements and technical design, as well as the development and support of applications used internally for the processing of the inbound data. These applications will be used to clean and standardize the data, and to present it in complex ways to subject matter experts for analysis.
This is a great chance for you to build on your existing skills and practices. You’ll help shape our direction as we decide on technologies like Silverlight, WPF and MVC for new projects, while directly influencing your personal growth plan. You’ll be working with TFS, team builds and automated deployments. We strive for a balance of best practices that ensure quality without smothering productivity and we’re always looking for ways to improve our process. You’ll have a Universal MSDN subscription with access to the latest release of the Microsoft products that we use, including Visual Studio, SQL Server, Share Point, Team Foundation Server, Team Build Server, etc.
To be clear, this is a mid-level position. If you have two decades of consulting experience this wouldn’t be a good fit. Likewise, we’re looking for a bit more experience than the typical junior developer has, especially concerning how you approach problem solving and the development cycle. You won’t need to be able to describe a slew of patterns or answer tricky questions, but you do need to be familiar enough with the basics that you can easily build on them, applying appropriately complex solutions. Because we’re developing internal applications with specific business needs you may not always get to implement the sexiest techniques, but on the flip side, our controlled environment frees us from many of the constraints that bog down traditional web development.
You will work on site in our Burlington office, but you’ll have one day each week to work from home. As a subsidiary of AmerisourceBergen you will receive a good benefits package that includes 401k matching.
If you can hit the ground running on a project, can work collaboratively with another developer and have enough experience and opinions to help shape the product, we’d love to hear from you. As part of a small team backed by a large company you’ll have the best of both worlds – flexibility and stability!
