Hey everyone! I had an awesome time last week. So cool to meet you all. Following up on our discussion of hack events in the Bay Area in fall... does anyone know of a solid calendar I can access to see what events are being planned around the weekend of October 20/21?

Add me too please: [masked] Thanks!

    Hey Everyone,

Here is my blog post about hackathons. I incorporated some our discussions from the last meetup. Thought you might enjoy it.

Thanks everyone for bringing such awesome conversations. I had a great time.

    • Steven C.

That's not what you told me about Neil's conversations... Oh wait, is this mic on?

One more question for you all - we're trying to decide whether or not to put together a hack event in the Valley or in SF proper. Pros/cons? Which will have a better turnout? I'm leaning towards SF... this will likely be on Saturday October 20th and it will be email themed, in association with the Inbox Love event happening October 24th in Mountain View: http://inboxlove.wpengine.com/s...

    August 30, 2012

    • Jeremia K.

I think SF proper gets a better crowd, but really depends on what else is going on that weekend. Should be fun, and let us know when we can register/promote :)

    • Adria R.

I agree with Jeremia on that.

Awesome discussion about on how to improve the value of hackathons for sponsors, attendees and the community

Glad everyone had such a great time! What date should we meet in September? Mid to late after TechCrunch Disrupt? Who's all going to TCD?

    August 30, 2012

    • Jeremia K.

I'm hacking, not sure if I'll be at the conf too

Great get-together. I'm going to try a Tropo/Force.com integration - do speech recognition on a customer message and attach it as a note to their Salesforce contact record.

All - let me know if you have a Salesforce/Force.com integration in mind and we can maybe collaborate on it.

Sarah-Jane, hope you can make it. We'll add your API for now but please confirm if you'll be coming. Thanks!

    • Sarah-Jane M.

I'll be there to network and briefly present our API but no hacking for me. :)

For those thinking about using OpenShift - it would be great if youcould sign up for the openshift account and get the command line tools installed before the hackathon. That way I can focus on helping you getting your code on your server (should take less that 5 minutes at that point). https://openshift.redhat.com/app...

  • Song Z.

That's alot of API's to cover in 3 hours!

    August 20, 2012

Mashery in the haus. http://developer.mashery.com - would love to share beautiful nuggets and help build some hacks around these APIs: Whit.li (http://developer.whit.li), USA TODAY (http://developer.usatoday.com) and Rovi (http://developer.rovicorp.com).

Adding Stackmob (Sid) and Mashery (Neil) to the list! We've got an App.net user (Abraham) interested in repping for them so to the list they go.

    See you all on Wednesday!

Hey folks - while I know a bunch about deCarta's APIs I will actually be showing OpenShift (where I work now). Everyone is free to use OpenShift as servers to integrate their services in one place. Let me know if you have questions. If you sign up before I can also give your account more resources if you will need it.

    August 17, 2012

    • Adria R.

Steve, sweet! Thanks for offering this to the group. I've added the OpenShift API link to the event.

      August 17, 2012

  • Abraham W.

I don't officially represent them bit I would be happy to talk about the App.net APIs.

    August 17, 2012

    • Song Z.

I supported App.net, so Id say join in! :D

      August 17, 2012

We will be using this session as a testing ground to hold a hackathon later on in the year. Please only register if your current role has you promoting an API.
