Fond of making applications? Looking for new possibilities to get a bigger reach for your product?

On March 2, we organize the 1st Developers Summit at Hyves HQ to look into the possibilities of creating web and mobile applications with the tools available to us at the moment.

We will have a look at the past and a look into the future to see how we can extend our reach onto the new and unexplored platform called mobile.

We’ve got some interesting speakers lined up for you, so make sure to check it out:

13:30 - 14:00
Robert Slootjes (MediaMonks (http://www.mediamonks.com/))
API Tips & Tricks
MediaMonks have their own way to deal with the Hyves API. They made their own libraries to get the best performance and they've created an efficient method to develop campaigns. Learn about the benefits of returnfields, batch processing and how to move your precious load away from your expensive servers. But most of all you will see how easy it is to use the Hyves API as long as you use the proper tools.

14:00 - 14:30
Jeroen Tjepkema (MeasureWorks (http://measureworks.nl/))
Mobile (Performance) Analytics
Mobile raises the stakes for site owners. Recent studies have shown us that over 70% of your mobile users expect mobile sites to load as fast as regular websites. Even worse, over 40% of your visitors will not return after bad performance. One handed, on the move or under time pressure, consumers want to view the same data as on your desktop website, do mobile payments and basically access the world of information from every location and time.

Speed and reliability are key. But how do we know what the performance is we actually deliver to our end users, at what point do they actually drop off or how does the device or carrier factor in for end user performance. How do we collect the right type of data that allows us to a) measure end user performance and b) analyze it for improvement and business impact. Various options are available; sniffing vs tagging, real user monitoring vs synthetic monitoring, real devices vs emulation, and so on…What’s the difference, when to use the one or the other or what works best for your situation. This session will provide an overview and will cover:

  • Why do we need to measure mobile performance?
    -Overview of various methods for measuring mobile performance;
  • Which type of tools are available and how to use them (from open source, to APMproviders and Web Analytics solutions)
  • What data to collect?
  • How to interpret the data and make it actionable?
