This is our normal inbetween book meeting. We have this meeting in order to give everyone time to get the next book and get some of the reading done. Its also a chance to be more social outside of the "book club" aspect of our group.
This meeting will be broken into two sections, one hour a peice.
Section One: Buddhist Jeopardy
In the first hour we will split into teams and play a round of Buddhist Jeopardy. This will include several categories, with questions increasing in difficulty/point award for each category (just like the hit TV show! Sorry Alex Trebek will not be there!)
Section Two: Dalai Lama Show-n-Tell
The Dalai Lama's birthday was on July 6th. We are doing a show-n-tell to mark this event. What you should do is bring something related to the Dalai Lama (A quote, picture, story etc) that you enjoy. You will share it to the group and relate why you like it to the group.
Welcome to Dharma Readers. This group is a book club which focuses on books that explore the many different facets of Buddhism. We welcome Buddhists and Non-Buddhists alike. We do not favor any particular form of Buddhism and seek only to deepen our understanding and knowledge of his teaching. This group is for those who want to learn more about the Dharma in a group setting.
Format: We do an informal ten minute meditation before we start each meeting. Depending on the type of book we are reading we may read the material aloud and then discuss it, or read the material at home and come prepared to discuss parts that we have chosen. It is not neccesary to read the book to attend a meeting. Feel free to join us and share in our conversation. At the end of each book we ask our members what they would like to read and then vote to determine what the next book will be. We meet twice a month, every other sunday.
