My husband is balder now, thanks to my love of classic fiction and my inability to keep quiet about it. In an effort to maintain marital peace (and perhaps to keep a few threads of hair attached to his poor head), I decided to start a book discussion group centered on classic novels.

The purpose of the group, then, will be to dive into the worlds created by some of history's most famous authors: Steinbeck, Twain, Austin, Dostoevsky, and, of course, Dickens, just to name a few. If you also enjoy reading classic fiction but have found no one with whom to share this passion, please join me on the last Sunday evening of each month to discuss a different classic novel, starting with Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens.

This is not a group of snobs, in fact, pettiness and cattiness is best left outside. This is a group of ladies who get lost in past worlds and enjoy meeting each other there. It is a place where it is okay to be smart yet still learn from each other and some of the most creative people who ever lived.
