#Digibury 114 - February 12th 2014

Boom! We got the speakers. All we need is you, the audience...

Talk 1:
In his talk Colour, Creativity, and Running Away, Designer Martin Jewiss explores the impact colour has on psychological function. Based on recent research, Martin presents his development of a code environment colour palette to help designers and developers improve their creativity and productivity.

Talk 2:
Liam Gooding is serial entreprenuer and founder of trak.io. His talk Blood, Sweat and Fears lifts the lid on his recent start-up journey, from concept to six-figure investment… warts and all. Lets just say, it's been emotional!

Talk 3...ish...
Finally we have Ann Kempster... Now, we're actually still locking this talk down. But only because Ann is so ruddy talented that we're not sure which direction to go in... but believe me, it's going to be fascinating.

Thank you to all of you who braved the terrible weather and rocked up to last night's Digibury... and thank you for being such an engaged bunch! The QnA's were especially interesting. In fact, your audience participation has given us a bit of food for thought, and in time we might try mixing in a 'discussion' panel in time on a specific topic...

    BLOG:
I'll share the blog asap - complete with slide's of all of last night's talks etc.

    NEW STARTING TIME:
We've decided to shift the start time to 7.30pm - hopefully give those of you travelling from work more time to get to The Gulbenkian!

    NEXT MONTH: MARCH 12
Details to be announced, but we're planning an art-meets-tech special, with the presentation of Project Conway: http://deeson-online.co.uk/blog/project-conway-3-its-alive

First time I've been. Found the talks very interesting, and gave me a couple of ideas too. Liked the fairly informal atmosphere, but it still retained a professional outlook.

Thanks for that Eric! Glad it's given you a but of inspiration. We're really keen to get all feedback - only way we can improve! FYI, we'll be trying starting next month (March 12th) at 7.30pm! Really hope to see you then!

Quick note to welcome to all our new members! We've also go a few first-timers to Wednesday's Digibury which is fantastic. We're all set - kick off 7pm at The Gulbenkian - and it looks like it's going to be a really interesting mix of talks and Q&As. Don't forget to follow @digibury on Twitter - and check out our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Digibury

    Cheers! Lizzie.

It's the community that makes us, which is why it's good to pay that support back.... and Chris Kempt from http://kempt.co.uk/ needs your help! He's looking for alpha testers for his two new games for The Magnificent Stunts - Stunt Gal - A side-scrolling platformer and the blockbuster remake of Stunt Guy, originally entitled Stunt Guy 2.

Chris promises prizes and rewards for people that provide the best or most useful feedback from testing the games. So all good : ) Interested? Check out: http://blog.kempt.co.uk/2014/01/now-recruiting-alpha-testers.html

Final talk from Ann Kempster announced!!

Talk 3: Under-representation of women at technology and digital conferences is a well-documented phenomenon. Drawing on her work with 300 Seconds - a movement empowering female speakers - Ann will be exploring why we need to work harder at ensuring women are given a platform to practice their presenting skills, particularly in the tech world.

Looks like a good one. Highly unlikely I will be able to make it. Is there any chance of a slide share or similar post meetup?

    January 31, 2014

    • Lizzie H.

Hi Duncan - sorry you're not going to make it! Yep - the slides will be up, as is the case every month. http://www.slideshare...=

Also check out our blog posts (here's last months: http://deeson-online....).

We're exploring new ways to share the talks - including videoing and audio recording them... but that won't be locked down for a month or so. Hope to see you at March Digibury - we'll be doing a bit of a 'special': http://deeson-online....
