This is a 3 hour phototrip at the Queen Elizabeth Park. The word phototrip is short for “photographic daytrip”. This phototrip is an interactive learning opportunity with a limited number of people guaranteeing 1-on-1 tuition. Hands-on photography is an effective method for gaining skills that will advance your photography immediately.

What will you learn on this phototrip?

How to improve close up or macro images Visual design in close up photography Effective use of depth of field Understanding shape and texture and how this boosts your close up images How to use colour to make your macro images more powerful Using white balance for the scene and using it creatively Using your tripod effectively for macro images Tips and tricks to improve your composition At the end of this phototrip you will have amazing close up images of flowers and foliage. The techniques you will learn on this phototrip will provide valuable insight into taking your photography to the next level.

Phototrip Checklist?

Camera - A DSLR would be preferable, but any camera that has a manual function could be used Tripod Lenses – learn to work with the lenses you have. If you have a macro lens, that would be great, but you can get some good images without a macro lens Good walking shoes, toque, gloves, jacket, umbrella An old towel - The ground might be wet or dirty, you can use the old towel to kneel or lie down on Pen and paper - you may want to take notes. Detailed course notes will be emailed to you after the phototrip. A desire to learn more - photography is about discovery, so come along with the willingness to learn and challenge your thinking Coffee mug

This phototrip will cost $ 45.00 per person for 3 hours of tuition; course notes and tea/coffee and cookies

How do I get to the Queen Elizabeth Park?

The Queen Elizabeth Park is 20 minutes away from Downtown Vancouver. It is easily accessible by public transit and by car.

Buses/Skytrain: Catch the Canada Line Skytrain from Downtown Vancouver and get off at the King Edward Station. Then catch bus 33 and get off at the Queen Elizabeth Park. Walk a few minutes into the park to the meeting point.
Car: Drive Southbound on Cambie street, away from Downtown Vancouver. Continue along Cambie Road until W 29th and turn left into W 29th Ave. Continue into Midlothian Ave and then turn Right into Queen Elizabeth Park

Where will we meet?

We will meet outside the entrance to the Bloedel Conservatory; the large geodesic shaped dome structure in the park.
