Featuring New York's talented and emerging Actors and Writers for stage and screen, Directing Actors TV is an episodic scene series at the National Comedy Theatre in Midtown Manhattan. Each event is videotaped in front of a live audience of casting Agents, Producers, Directors, Writers and Actors--then broadcast on Directing Actors TV (http://www.directingactors.tv), Directing Actors on Facebook (http://www.Facebook.com/directingactors)
, Directing Actors on YouTube (http://www.YouTube.com/directingactorstv
) and distributed virally via user-generated content platforms and video aggregators.
Audience members and industry guests are invited to attend.
Participating Actors:
1) RSVP for the event on Meetup.com or Facebook (www.Facebook.com/directingactors);
2) Choose a scene and follow the submission instructions for performing Actors;
3) Print and sign the Performing Actors Terms and Conditions (go to 'Files');
4) Arrive at the event ready to perform (off-book) with your signed Agreement.
Actors perform the scene with every Actor that is featured to perform in the role opposite them in the scene they selected--adjusting to each new scene partner and making new choices that will entertain the audience and showcase their range. The Director employs simple 'quick-fix' direction to keep things moving along organically with the use of:
Action Verbs
(examples: threaten, surrender, convince)
Facts
(things you didn't know about the story/character)
Images
(as an imaginative adjustment)
Events
(your through-line)
Physical Tasks
(objects and activities)
