Pacifica: Gnar-Balls Ride (Tag Along)
Details
This is an opportunity to ride with the DH crowd that are doing the Gnar-Balls Ride, but just before they ascend to do the really gnarly stuff, we're branching off to run as many possible sessions and loops on Boy Scout instead.
Boy Scout has some fun jumps and a couple of intermediate drops, but nothing like what's found on XXX or the Crack. This is because the jumps have tapered sides, so if you don't feel confident about taking the crease, you can easily pop off the sides to work up confidence and do some skill building. Just imagine Z's with a wider berth, longer run outs and fewer trees. Not as many doubles though and no tabletops that I can remember... and there's an option to slalom the course to avoid nearly every jump in the beginning section. There's also some decent turns to practice power skidding (if you're into that kind of thing). In short you can rage or just ease into it. Your choice.
Skill Level: The drops are the only thing that keep this from being a lower level ride. This is for the lower end of intermediate (and higher) riders and does not require a DH bike. Of course, a helmet and common sense is still mandatory.
Cardio: The pavement makes the climb a bit easier so I imagine we can get in three good loops at a minimum. You can also run sessions in the front section and just practice jumping if you don't want to deal with the climb back up or the drops.
Afterward (and completely optional) ... burgers, pizza, or maybe even something pressed out of bean paste?
