Osmii is hosting Big Data expert Raymond Roestenburg for a discussion about his experience building near-real time streaming applications using Scala.

The challenge comes from offering a complete streaming solution for businesses. This can be quite challenging so this talk will focus on these challenges and how to overcome them.

Libraries such as akka-stream and scalaz-stream provide compositional API's for processing streams on single nodes, while Apache Spark Streaming provides a multi-node solution for (mini-batched) stream processing. Moreover, Apache Kafka is a scalable solution for getting all those precious streams safely on and off disk.
