Join Mark Byrnes and Alanna St. Laurent of Discover Your World Photography Tours on this 3-day, 2-night photo workshop adventure during the beautiful fall color! Learn camera and photographic techniques from the ground up. All experience levels welcome as well as all camera models. Hands-on workshops will teach you techniques and other tricks of the trade that will make your photos come alive!

Professional photographers Mark Byrnes and Alanna St. Laurent will be leading this tour. Mark has over 30 years of varied experience from selling amateur and professional equipment to teaching classes on all aspects of photography. There will be several photo opportunities including shooting the elk and two lighthouses. We will also hold a photo critique/review session on Saturday afternoon.

TENTATIVE ITINERARY:

FRIDAY OCT 10: We begin our photography trip with a cup of hot coffee and a snack served by Alanna as we get underway on the motor coach. On the drive to Hillman, we will have an introduction by our photography expert Mark Byrnes and a brief overview of the weekend’s itinerary, followed by some question and answer time with Mark. After a stop for lunch in East Tawas, we will visit the Sturgeon Point Lighthouse and Museum. We will take time to photograph this historic 1800s era lighthouse, which also serves as a maritime museum. Mark and Alanna will be on hand to demonstrate and answer questions. We will then make our way over to the Thunder Bay Resort. You can check in and dinner will be on your own to rest and relax for early rise on Saturday morning.

SATURDAY OCT 11: Meet at 7:00am to catch a shuttle to shoot the Elk! You will have a couple of hours to capture these magnificent animals before we head back to eat breakfast at the resort. After breakfast, we will shoot more landscape and portrait images around the lodge for a few hours and eat lunch (on your own). After lunch we will hold a photo critique/review before the 5-course dinner that starts at 6:00pm.

SUNDAY OCT 12: Meet at 7:00am to board the motorcoach to head over to the Presque Isle Lighthouse and capture the sunrise at the lighthouse. When we are through shooting we will head into Alpena for lunch. After lunch, we will return to the lodge to pack up and head back towards Detroit.

What to bring: Bring your camera, tripod, wide angle to midrange lens, or if you have a telephoto for shooting closeup images of the Elk.

REFUND POLICY:

For this specific trip, refund policy is if you cancel 30 days or more before the first day of the trip, you will receive 100% refund (you will receive either the $150 deposit you used to hold the reservation OR the full amount paid if you paid for the trip in full).

Less than 30 days (but more than two weeks) before the first day of the trip, you will receive 50% refund.

Less than two weeks before the first day of the trip will not receive a refund.
However, if you have to cancel within this time frame, and you can find someone who is willing to take your spot, we will give you 100% refund.

If you are concerned you might have to cancel your reservation, you might want to consider purchasing travel insurance.
