TGIF....goodness what a long week with an even longer one ahead!
What a lovely meet up last night; new faces, old friends, and a fun time within the walls of Your Vine or Mine. We had a lively but quick discussion on 'The Guernsey Society' book finding a split decision whether or not one liked the series of letters or could do without. We all agreed it was quite ironic the characters started a book club and that they found their club interesting enough to meet weekly to try and discuss a range of books. I could just imagine the bickering and squabbles.
If you made it through November's selection, did you go as far as to make a potato peel pie? As one attendee put it, they are quite tasteless! However, I do think it would be fun to have a book recipe potluck meet up in our future. We've surely come across several books in the last year that discussed or even engaged in details of a favorite food, correct? Give it some thought and let's plan on it when we're all looking to escape Ohio's cabin fever.
For December, a new book was suggested for the list and quickly became our random selection of the month. 'The Sense of an Ending' by Julian Barnes is the book to snag while you can. I found a few copies in Mentor, one at Morley (checked out), several in the Cleveland Network and an Overdrive in several e-reader editions. Since it's quite short, we're going to set another Meet Up before the Holidays. Keep your eyes peeled for a new poll and more details on where we'll be in the final month of 2012.
Finally, there have been several new titles added to the 'future' Divas book list. Download them at your leisure by visiting the 'More' tab and then 'Files' from the top of the Meet Up page.
Take care! Amanda
