Wreck Dive - Mercedes I

The most famous of Fort Lauderdale's wrecks is the 198-foot freighter Mercedes I. She received national attention, when on Thanksgiving Day in 1984 during a terrible storm, she lost her anchorage and ran aground against the seawall of an exclusive Palm Beach seaside mansion. She now lies even keel in 97 feet of water just offshore of Fort Lauderdale. The deck is at 60 feet and her tower can be reached at 45 feet. Average visibility ranges from 50 to 60 feet and the current can sometimes be strong so the wreck is for more advanced divers.

On the way back, we will do a drift dive on a shallow reef (20-30') chosen by the Captain. Meet and greet in the parking lot at 7:30am. Safety brief/loadout/underway by 8am. Back at the dock by noon. A dive flag (provided) per dive team is required for the drift dive.

Price includes 2 AL 80 tanks of "air".

Everyone must provide their own "safety sausage" / whistle.

Price does not include safety sausage, dive gear, weights or gratuity.

Other kinds of tank mixes and/or gear can be provided with prior advance notice for a reasonable price.
