The Diving Rebels promote the sport of SCUBA diving in a safe & responsible manner. Programs & guest speakers are provided at regular meeting to improve member's knowledge of diving techniques & current concerns within the diving community. All diving members must have a nationally recognized SCUBA diver certification. The Club membership includes instructors, divemasters & advanced open water divers giving new divers plenty of opportunity to dive with experienced divers. Monthly dive outings are organized to various Texas, Oklahoma & Arkansas lakes, often including games and/or contest with prizes. Past outings include San Marcos River, Lake Travis, Lake Ouachita, Broken Bow, Tyler State Park & Bonaire. The club has a blue water trip each summer & in 2008 will be going to Utila Honduras.
A secondary purpose of the Club is to provide enjoyable social activities for Club members & their guest. Activities include Club picnics, wine tastings, a Christmas party & occasional fund raising activities for the Club & other worthwhile diving organizations. Believing that safe diving must be practiced, each year a Diver of the Year Award & Service Award are awarded to one of the members.
